Intel is not releasing a specific IntelĀ® USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller Driver for Windows 8. So even Intel says to uninstall the driver. Hope this helps someone else down the line. I too have seen this after restoring my system. On both occasions I just deleted it. If I remember correctly it reports that it is installed properly but not functioning. Tested all my hardware and stuff functions correctly so I'm not sure what it is used for. However you can find all your factory installed drivers at C: eSupport eDriver or the latest at One point of interest, if stuff works, don't bother updating unless you need to, especially true of the BIOS update. I've seen around the forums some users experiencing difficulties after flashing the BIOS (on various ROG notebooks). Do update the graphic card drivers though. I'm having the same problem with my brand new DV7T 7200 Quad. Xbox one and windows spectra illuminated controller driver. In BOTH Windows 7 and Windows 8. This seems to be somethign added by the Intel WiDi software. I've tried everything (installing all drivers, new USB3 drivers, etc) and nothing works. I ended up 'uninstalling' the device and it hasn't shown up again. I would like to get it resolved though because my HP Recovery DVDs do not work. They fail at the end of the recovery with an error regarding USB yellow triangle. I suspect this is the reason. Joint with more than 80.000 Happy Readers.
